Code Genius is a code-breaking game in which you have 14 attempts to break a 4, 5, 6 or 7 digit code. It is based on the pen & paper game "Bulls and Cows", which pre-dated & inspired the 1970s board game Mastermind.

Code Genius uses numbers rather than coloured pegs or circles to generate the code. You can limit the range of the numbers available to between 4 to 9 digits. This is the equivalent of adding or removing some of the colours in the original board game, except that game never offered 9 different colours.

Altering the number range changes the number of code combinations which can be generated. The easiest setting and game would be a range of 1-4 on the 4 digit game. This would mean there are 256 combinations of codes that can be generated (4x4x4x4) = 256. If you play the 5 digit game with the same range setting, then there would be 1024 combinations (4x4x4x4x4).

At the most extreme setting, the 7 digit game played with a range of 1 - 9 has 4,782,969 possible code combinations.

This game is good for brain-training as it encourages the player to use logic and deduction to solve the code. Of course, there is also an element of luck as there could be several possible code combinations which you need to try.

This game is great for anyone who is colour-blind as it uses numbers rather than coloured circles.

Suitable for both kids and adults to play. The 4 digit game with a range of 1 - 4 would be good for kids to learn the game.

If you lose then the code is revealed at the end of the game so you can see how close you got so solving the code, or where you went wrong.

When you win, you get a congratulations message and you also get to see how many possible code-combinations there were in the game you played.

You can now tweet your winning result too - please ensure you have the Twitter App installed on your device to enable this.

So, do you have what it takes to crack the code, and become a Code Genius?
